英語雅思作文1
In the contemporary society, most countries tend to allocate parts of budget for the renovation of old buildings, in particular, these with historic meanings and regarded as the landmark of a region, like Forbidden City in Beijing, because the value of culture behind is priceless, and the technique used represents our ancestors talents and the construction level at that time and can never be duplicated, by which the archaeology would be promoted significantly.
Coming along with the culture and historic values, the existence of old building strengthens people s sense of identity. Unlike the high-rises and skyscrapers, which almost look the same all around the world, those architectural heritages withstood the test of time and display the unique architectural design of a region or period. What s more, they even contribute to the boom of tourism. Every year, there are thousands of tourists both from home and abroad visiting them and appreciating their irresistible glamour. This case is often seen in the Westminster Abbey in London and Colosseum in Rome. There is no doubt that the thriving tourism earns huge profits for local government and residents.
Nonetheless, it must be admitted that governments funding on the furnishing new residences and road development does generate several benefits. For one thing, inhabitants have chances to live in houses with a comfortable environment and reasonable layout. For another thing, more highways can be built to connect surrounding cities and suitable road planning can be implemented to satisfy the demands of public transportation. In spite of theses, historical buildings deserve public funding for its protection; otherwise, parts of human civilization would vanish in the years to come.
In conclusion, I firmly claim that it is the obligation of government to focus on the restoration of old building as they are symbols of traditional culture and reflect the history of a country.

School curriculum planning differs according to the teaching goal. Some choose to provide general education covering a wide range of subjects while in others, older school children are offered fewer courses in the specific field. From my perspective, the former idea is more reasonable.
Admittedly, specializing in specific subjects enables school students to lay a concrete foundation in their chosen filed. Since they can put endeavors and devote themselves to certain courses, chances are that a deep understanding can be obtained and accordingly more contributions made with sufficient expertise. The education pattern allows older school children to reach a basis and gain a competitive edge in further study.
However, older school children are too immature to decide the focused future path, especially when the demands in the job market are constantly changing. Therefore, from my point of view, exposure to a wide range of subjects can equip students with the adaptability in modern society. For one thing, the course setting offers school students, those full of curiosity, opportunities to explore possibilities. Considering that students can seize the chance to acquire knowledge in different fields, they are more likely to discover and foster their real interests, which means their decision on future directions can be more rational and thus leading to bright future prospects. For another, learning various subjects prepares older school children with multiple perspectives to perceive the world. As each course represents the unique thinking mode, after receiving a well-rounded education and exploring different fields, students can be cultivated to become comprehensive talents from an early age, which are especially demanded in the fierce competition.
Given the arguments above, although specialization in a small number of subjects clarifies the direction for older school children, I suppose developing knowledge in an extensive range should be given due priority.

It is said that people are losing their enthusiasm for visiting local museums and places of historical importance. This essay will put forward explanations for this before suggesting solutions to tackling this problem.
There are many reasons why museums and historical places are not frequented by local people. The main one is that local people find paying a visit to local tourist attractions boring and a waste of time. In other words, such places would be visually unattractive and arouse little interest in locals, for the simple reason that they have been familiar with those places through school courses or personal experiences. Another significant reason is that the authorities charge a substantial amount of admission fee, giving rise to a reduction of the number of locals visiting historic sites. As a result, the destinations would be generally more appealing and worthy to the tourists than to the locals.
To encourage local residents to attend historical relics and museums, several measures can be prompted. First and foremost, authorities can change the perception of museums and historical sites by organizing cultural events and regular exhibitions, including weddings, concerts and celebrations. These renewals would provide the public with a new experience and attract media attention to historical values. Another solution is to offer free tickets and special promotions for local people at weekends. For example, the Confucian temple in China has set specific days on which free entrance is available for everyone to commemorate and honour traditional occasions. Therefore, a growing number of locals would be encouraged to come more regularly.
In conclusion, people avoid visiting museums or historical places due to their familiarity with those destinations and high entrance fees. The government can promote these sites by conducting interesting programmes and offering free or subsidised entry.

題目:Nowadays many students have the opportunity to study for part or all of their courses in foreign countries. While studying abroad brings many benefits to individual students, it also has a number of disadvantages. Do you agree or disagree?
In recent years there has been a vast increase in the number of students choosing to study abroad. This is partly because people are more affluent and party due to the variety of grants and scholarships which are available for overseas students nowadays. Although foreign study is not something which every student would choose, it is an attractive option for many people.
Studying overseas has a number of advantages. Firstly, it may give students access to knowledge and facilities such as laboratories and libraries which are not available in their home country. Furthermore, by looking abroad students may find a wider range of courses than those offered in their country’s universities, and therefore one which fits more closely to their particular requirements.
On the other hand, studying abroad has a number of drawbacks. These may be divided into personal and professional. Firstly, students have to leave their family and friends for a long period. Furthermore, studying abroad is almost always more expensive than studying at one’s local university. Finally, students often have to study in a foreign language, which may limit their performance and mean they do not attain their true level.
In my opinion, however, the disadvantages of studying abroad are usually temporary in nature. Students who study abroad generally become proficient in the language quite soon and they are only away from their family and friends for a year or two. Furthermore, many of the benefits last students all their lives and make them highly desirable to prospective employers.

St can education bring us? Is “high mark” the real destiny of education? As researchers and scholars are investigating this subject, the accurate definition of education begins to have slight difference from what was in people‘s mind before. Education, the bridge between teachers and students, the mediator between individual and society, means more than knowledge transmit, but being a wholly developed person in the society.
First, education brings us basic knowledge and skill to survive. From primary school on,students learn subjects like Maths,Physics,English,or in other words, academic subjects to gain the initial knowledge of the nature and world, which are extremely useful for our future career. Upon this, students also learn skills like sewing, cooking, and mending bicycles, which help them a lot in their future family life. To this extend, education provided us with fundamental concepts of living.
Second, education can cultivate our sentiment. Apart from academic subjects, art subjects such as music and art seems more interesting toward students. From these subjects, one can enjoy the pleasure of listening to music, try to guess a composer‘s emotion when writing a music chapter,or understand the meaning of a piece of drawing, from which process they themselves are edified and assimilated, and finally have their own clear opinion on what is beauty.
Third, education makes an individual adapted to the society. Being innocent and naive, young people always find it hard to immerge into the complicated environment, and feel frustrated. Through education like communication skills, students may know the essence of getting on with other people. This kind of education influences our personality and views everyone as a whole individual in the big family of society.
Above all, knowledge, emotion, and personality form the most important part of the content of education. The aim of education is to teach a per son become a completely developed individual.

It is argued that testing motorists’ driving skills and hazard perception on a yearly basis is the most effective method to guarantee road safety. Personally, I totally disagree with this, as some drivers will continue to drive irresponsibly and meanwhile various other measures are also useful.
The primary reason supporting my stance is that even if all drivers are tested regularly, a proportion of them will still be unlikely to adhere to traffic rules. It is often the case that drivers understand what they are supposed to do while driving. For example, they know that car indicators should be used to signal their intention to turn at an intersection and driving is prohibited after they have had more than a standard drink. However, accidents frequently occur because some refuse to behave responsibly, thereby making it impossible to maintain road safety.
Another important point I consider is that many other factors, including the great visibility of road signs and markings as well as harsh punishments, play an equally important role in the improvement of road safety. If traffic signages are properly installed and markings are clearly seen, drivers will be conscious of the speed at which they should drive and the place where they are permitted to change lanes. Similarly, with stiff penalties implemented, drivers’ reckless behaviour will be deterred as they will be frightened of being heavily fined and even imprisoned.
In conclusion, I have strong opposition to the viewpoint that in terms of ensuring road safety, no other ways are superior to forcing drivers to submit to an annual test of their ability to drive and awareness of danger. For one thing, not every driver will strictly follow traffic regulations; for another, alternative approaches, such as making roadway signs and markings easily recognisable and enforcing strict laws and regulations, are also decisive to improving road safety.
英語雅思作文7
ou should spend about 40 minutes on this task.
Some people prefer to plan activities for their free time very carefully. Others choose not to make any plans at all for their free time.
Compare the benefits of planning free-time activities with the benefits of not making plans. Which do you prefer - planning or not planning for your leisure time? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your choice.
You should write at least 250 words. model answer: Nowadays people have so many things to do that they almost always do not have enough time for it.
When we go to bed we carefully think and plan our next day and it continues day in and day out. We wake up, recollect our checklist with things to do and in a few minutes we are already in a car on our way to the office.
Often people do not have time for themselves. So, when people have some spare time they want to use it wisely.
Some people prefer to plan activities for their free time very carefully. However, others prefer not to make any plans.
In this essay I will analyze both cases and present my view in favor of planning free-time activities. From the one side, not making any plans and just letting the time pass by for some time have some benefits.
First of all, a person can just relax, enjoy the beautiful moments, spend his or her time with loved ones, watch a movie, listen to relaxing music, observe the flowers in bloom from the window, contemplate about his or her life and just slow down the pace of life. I think it is a very good way to eliminate one's stress and tension and just leave all troubles and worries behind.
From the other side, careful planning can bring many benefits too. First of all, one can travel.
However, traveling requires some planning to be made. For example, one most likely will need a hotel room.
So, the reservation should be made beforehand. Also, it is wise to check one's car to avoid breakdowns and have an uninterrupted worry-free trip.
Second of all, planning one's activities allows to spend one's free time the way he/she likes. For instance, if I want to play tennis on incoming week-end I will certainly make a reservation for a court because in this case I will not be disappointed with the waste of my time.
Personally, I prefer to make plans for my free time because it allows me to spend my vacation or week-ends the way I want it. To sum up, I think careful planning allows people to derive maximum benefits from their free time.
However, I must confess sometimes I allow my self just to stay at home with my friends and family and not make any plans

In modern society, with the continuous increment of population, students, even for those young ones, face fierce competition. To help their kids earn a competitive edge among peers, some parents believe it’s better for the children to learn subjects related to various fields, while others hold that focusing on a few courses is the best solution. From my points of view, I lean towards the former.
It is true that children will get more ideal grades when they merely focus on one subject or two. One’s energy is limited, and this is especially the case for young teenagers who cannot master so much knowledge both psychologically and intellectually.
By contrast, if they allocate much time on single subject, such as academic ones like math and language, and aesthetic ones like dancing and painting, they will be very likely to get much better performance in that domain than others.
This specialty can help them get enrolled in a good middle school in many cases. Furthermore, many educational practitioners argue that older school children are not suitable to learn so much academic curriculums including physics and chemistry mentally, as these content are too hard to be understood by kids at that young age.
As result, for the sake of kids’ near future, they should mainly focus on a few subjects.
However, the fallacy of the idea mentioned above is also obvious, and I believe school kids should try as many subjects as they can. Initially, no one, including the parents, could be completely certain about the talents hidden inside a child. Although the education only focusing on a few subjects is helpful for application to middle schools, this is definitely harmful to the discovery of the kid’s true talent, and could exert profound influence on the teenager in the long run. For another, as we all know, young teenagers are not so psychologically mature to concentrate themselves on one single subject for a relative long time as adults do.
Forcing these youngsters on a sole subject not only leads to a decreased efficiency in learning, but also ends up with family conflict in many scenarios. By contrast, if children are allowed to learn as many subjects as they want, all these problems can be avoided from happening.
Not only can children exploit their potentials in various spheres, they can also keep their mind sharp and learn the knowledge effectively.
In conclusion, although making older school children focus only a few subjects is beneficial to their near academic career, I believe only a wide range of subjects could ensure a promising future for the students, as long as the subjects are carefully selected and are not too hard to be understood by them.

There are many good reasons to cycle. Cycling is the most efficient means of getting around London. Many journeys we make are shorter than two miles or less and these are usually faster on a cycle than travelling by car, bus, tube, train or taxi.。Not only is cycling good for you, it is also fun and available to all. It is a chance to get out of the house or workplace, to be active and to be sociable. Getting a bike neednt be expensive and upkeep is low cost and easy. )
Save money
Using a bike to replace your regular form of transport is a great way to save money. Its well documented that cycling is the best value way to travel around London . Compared to cars, bicycles are much cheaper to buy and maintain, and you dont have all the added costs of fuel, Vehicle Excise Duty and parking.
Save time
For a typical London journey, cycling is faster than the car, public transport, taxis or walking. Remember that cycling is a door to door service. On a bicycle you can easily cover five miles in half an hour and be confident that youll arrive on time. Car or bus journeys take longer and depend on traffic, or irregular bus services. For longer trips, you can combine bike and public transport: leaving your bike at the station or sometimes taking it on the train/tube at off-peak times. See the LCC information booklet Transporting Your Bicycle for further information.

With the development of science and technology, the cars have already become the important component in our daily life gradually. Cars make our life convenient and swift. However, too many cars have caused very serious social problems. Some people claim that the disadvantages of car are more than the advantages. I doubt whether the argument can bear much analysis.
Since one century [ago], the auto industry has [been] developed at full speed worldwide, and has brought the enormous progresses to our life. For example, the car is the most convenient tool of transportation. We can [be] on and off duty by car every day, we can go to travel by car on the vacation, we can utilize the cars to deal with some emergency too. The car [is] playing an important role in our daily life. They make our rhythm of life faster and faster, make our business become more and more efficient.
On the other hand, the development of the automobile has brought a lot of infant industry to people, Give people countless employment opportunities too. Such as, manufacturing industry, repairing industry and maintaining industry. We are enjoying the convenience that the cars bring to us; at the same time we can utilize the auto industry to support ourselves. However, we can not ignore that too many cars cause enormous social problems, for example, traffic jam, air pollution, traffic accident, to which we have to find a solution. In a word, the cars have brought enormous change to our life; the advantages are far more than the disadvantages. We should recognize the merit of the cars, and do our best to solve the problems. If so, our life will be brighter.

Cities are often seen as places of opportunity, but there are also some major drawbacks of living in a large metropolis. In my opinion, governments could do much more to improve city life for the average inhabitant.
The main problem for anyone who hopes to migrate to a large city is that the cost of living is likely to be much higher than it is in a small town or village. Inhabitants of cities have to pay higher prices for housing, transport, and even food. Another issue is that urban areas tend to suffer from social problems such as high crime and poverty rates in comparison with rural areas. Furthermore, the air quality in cities is often poor, due to pollution from traffic, and the streets and public transport systems are usually overcrowded. As a result, city life can be unhealthy and stressful.
However, there are various steps that governments could take to tackle these problems. Firstly, they could invest money in the building of affordable or social housing to reduce the cost of living. Secondly, politicians have the power to ban vehicles from city centres and promote the use of cleaner public transport, which would help to reduce both air pollution and traffic congestion. In London, for example, the introduction of a congestion charge for drivers has helped to curb the traffic problem. A third option would be to develop provincial towns and rural areas, by moving industry and jobs to those regions, in order to reduce the pressure on major cities.
In conclusion, governments could certainly implement a range of measures to enhance the quality of life for all city residents.

I have just moved into Apartment 32B, and am enjoying my stay here. However, I do have a concern about one of my neighbors.
When I signed my lease it was emphasized to me that there could be no more than two persons living full-time in a studio apartment. That is definitely not the case in the apartment directly above mine, 33B.
During the one month I have been here, there must have been at least six adults and three young children somehow squeezed into that studio apartment at any one time. The constant noise, the traffic into and out of the apartment, and the four cars they use is very annoying.
Please look into the matter and advise me of the resolution as soon as possible.

The 21st century has begun.
What changes do you think this new century will bring?
Model Answer:
Man, through the ages, has undergone many changes from the time when he depicted a herd of mammoths on the walls of his cave to these days when he can create beautiful pictures and even make coffee by use of computer technologies without leaving his favorite chair. The 20th century made huge steps in developing computer technologies and reached many goals that made our life much easier. What should we expect in the 21st century?
First of all, I think that the pace of our life will speed up: we will move faster from one place to another, from one continent to another using high speed jet airplanes. Second of all, I believe that we will be able to do many things that take much time now without leaving our house. Computers will be everywhere including out clothes. Many people will have chips and mini computers ed in their heads to hold huge amount of information and have a quick access to it.
But what will be the most amazing thing in the 21st century is the flights to the outer space and Mars that will be available to all people. Scientists say that Mars has many things similar to the Earth's. Moreover, they say that with the help of modern technology people can artificially create conditions that will allow people to live there on the constant basis.
To sum up, I am sure that many amazing changes will be brought by the 21st century. Furthermore, I think that with the help of the contemporary technologies people can do many things that were even difficult to imagine a century ago. So, nowadays it is rather difficult and even impossible to imagine all changes that will happen in the next decades.
