世界愛眼日不同于全國愛眼日，世界愛眼日是每年十月的第二個星期四，是屬于世界性的節(jié)日，在這天，全球多個指定國家及地區(qū)會舉辦一系列的大型宣傳活動。 目的是喚起全球重視盲癥、視力損害以及視力受到損害者的康復問題，世界愛眼日是在“視覺2020全球倡議”下舉辦的。世界上所有與預防視力損害或者恢復視力有關的合作伙伴都將慶祝世界愛眼日。這也是預防盲癥以及“視覺2020：享有看見的權利”的主要宣傳活動。后者是由世衛(wèi)組織和國際防盲機構創(chuàng)立、用以預防盲癥的一項全球行動。2014年世界愛眼日是10月16日。
