This is the first time that we, Chinese athletes have won so many gold medals in one Olympic Games, which means our sports games belong to the first class in the world!

　　The olympic games

　　The Olympic games are held every four years. Thewinter Olympics are usually held two years before thesummerOlympics. The old Olympic games beganaround the year 776 B.C. in Greece. After about theyear 393 A.D., the Olympic games stopped. The firstOlympic games in modern times took place in 1896. 311 competitors took part in the games. In 1992,more than 8000 competitors from over 150 differentcounties went to Barcelona for the 25th Olympics. There were 250 different sports in thegames. In Barcelona, the Chinese team got 16 golden metals of which 12 were won by women.
