創(chuàng)作背景
《Earth Song》是邁克爾·杰克遜在奧地利巡演時，在一家旅館創(chuàng)作的。邁克爾·杰克遜認為，大自然正在努力彌補人類對其造成的傷害。隨著生態(tài)失衡的繼續(xù)以及各種環(huán)境問題的出現(xiàn)，邁克爾·杰克遜認為地球非常痛苦。邁克爾·杰克遜想要人們聽到地球的聲音，于是在奧地利時靈感突現(xiàn)，創(chuàng)作了《Earth Song》。
歌曲鑒賞
正如歌名所示，《Earth Song》是一首關于地球的歌，歌中有邁克爾·杰克遜憂傷、悲憤甚至絕望的歌唱。歌詞看似有些簡單重復，甚至格式僵化，實則句句扣人心弦，發(fā)人深省。該曲伴著撕心裂肺的呼喊，人們仿佛看到有人站在世界之巔，帶領著全世界的人歌唱。在聽眾腦海中緩緩切換的鏡頭里，出現(xiàn)了貧卉的大地、硝煙中滿臉恐慌的孩子，褪色的夢想，還有天使無力展開的翅膀。
歌曲MV
邁克爾·杰克遜在MV中扮演了一個失落的救世主形象，他在為遭人為破壞的環(huán)境、被無辜屠戮的野生動物和被戰(zhàn)火摧殘的世界而悲泣。后段以倒放手法在熒幕上完成了一個現(xiàn)實中永遠不可能實現(xiàn)的夢境，好像一切都可以回到最初美好和諧的境界。在MV的結尾處，制作者打出字幕告訴觀眾：MV攝制于四大洲選出的四個地方（亞馬遜雨林、克羅地亞、坦桑尼亞和紐約），就在攝制的同時和之后不久，一些地方的森林和動物遭到毀滅，而有的地方依然籠罩著戰(zhàn)爭的陰霾。
