One story about Jack, an Irishman, who was not allowed into Heaven because he was stingy with his money. So he was sent to hell. But down there he played tricks on the Devil (Satan), so he was kicked out of Hell and made to walk the earth forever carrying a lantern.
Well, Irish children made Jacks lanterns on October 31st from a large potato or turnip, hollowed out with the sides having holes and lit by little candles inside. And Irish children would carry them as they went from house to house begging for food for the village Halloween festival that honored the Druid god Muck Olla. Halloween is also called Zhusheng Festival. It is a traditional festival in the West on November 1 every year, and October 31 on the eve of Halloween is the most lively time of the festival. In Chinese, Halloween is often mistakenly translated into Halloween.
Halloween was very simple, and most of it was in church. But across Europe, Halloween is seen as an opportunity to play, tell ghost stories and scare each other. So people no longer use this festival to praise autumn, but let it become a festival of gods, witches and ghosts.

Celtic believed that the sun god helped them grow crops. But each year the sun god is attacked by an evil force called Samhain and spent six months in captivity. Samhain, and two other titles, "Lord of Dead" and "Prince of Darkness", came to Celtic land with cold and dark winters.
The celts are very afraid of the night of October 31, because they feel like theres a bunch of evil souls lurking everywhere. They set fire to their home to let evil spirits leave their homes. (the last untranslated paragraph was that the flames could frighten the ghost away.) They believed Samhain had called the dead, and they believed that Samhain would turn the dead into something else, like a cat. The celts will be disguising their evil spirits with terrible disguises. (this is the prototype for Halloween.)
Then Rome took over the Celtic lands and put the Roman holiday together with the Celtic Samhain festival on October 31, and it was now Halloween.

Halloween is coming, and all the students are very happy. You certainly dont know why? ha-ha! Because we can have snacks, I believe that the boys in our class must think so. I know them too well, especially Xiaowei and Caicai.
On this day, I really brought snacks. Chen, who claimed to be "scared", was even crazier. He even brought the x card. I cant stand it. Isnt it a Halloween? Theres no need to be so grand. Imagine getting married!
After a while, we put on our clothes and began to walk on the show. The music was also pulled up with the sound of our footsteps. In addition to the sound of the students giggling, the loom was even chaotic. Several classes passed, and we had a good harvest. We grabbed sugar and had a good time.
Time flies, and in a twinkling of an eye, we are playing. Xiao Zhao in my class got a "magic horse is floating cloud", which was loved and praised by the general public. I am happy for her.
At this time, I heard a voice, no, many voices: treat or trim, but our class almost did not prepare sugar, it should be said that we did not eat! Seeing their unhappy expressions, I began to worry. Didnt the male students buy a lot of sugar? Why not? I still regret that why didnt I bring some sugar?
This is really a crazy and happy Halloween!
萬(wàn)圣節(jié)英語(yǔ)作文 16
Halloween means Hallows Evening. It is the evening before All Hallows Day (now called All SaintsDay) , a Christian holiday, celebrated on the November 1st.
History traces Halloween back to the ancient religion of the Celtics. The Celts were the ancestors of the present-day Irish, Welshand Scottish people. In the 5th century BC, in Celtic Ireland, summer officially ended on October 31st. On the November 1st, Celtic peoples celebrated the festival of Samhain, which marked the beginning of winter and the Celtic New Year.
Celts thought the division between the natural world and the supernatural world became very thin and all time and space was abruptly suspended on October31st, and then the spirits of the died would come back and move freely looking for living bodies to possess.
萬(wàn)圣節(jié)英語(yǔ)作文 17
Halloween originated as a celebration connected with evil spirits. Witches flying on broomsticks with black cats, ghosts, goblins and skeletons have all evolved as symbols of Halloween. They are popular trick-or-treat costumes and decorations for greeting cards and windows. Black is one of the traditional Halloween colors, probably because Halloween festivals and traditions took place at night. In the weeks before October 31, Americans decorate windows of houses and schools with silhouettes of witches and black cats.
Pumpkins are also a symbol of Halloween. The pumpkin is an orange-colored squash, and orange has become the other traditional Halloween color. Carving pumpkins into jack- o’lanterns is a Halloween custom also dating back to Ireland. A legend grew up about a man named Jack who was so stingy that he was not allowed into heaven when he died, because he was a miser. He couldn’t enter hell either because he had played jokes on the devil. As a result, Jack had to walk the earth with his lantern until Judgement Day. The Irish people carved scary faces out of turnips, beets or potatoes representing "Jack of the Lantern," or Jack-o’lantern. When the Irish brought their customs to the United States, they carved faces on pumpkins because in the autumn they were more plentiful than turnips. Today jack-o’-lanterns in the windows of a house on Halloween night let costumed children know that there are goodies waiting if they knock and say "Trick or Treat!"
萬(wàn)圣節(jié)英語(yǔ)作文 18
The last day of October is Halloween. I have known about this interesting festival from books for a long time, but I have never had the opportunity to celebrate it.
This time, I started to mobilize my family a week in advance. Other people are all right to say, but my father does not agree. They always say, what kind of Halloween do we Chinese celebrate? Its a Western thing. However, in the end, he could not stand my "obsession", and finally nodded and agreed to accompany me.
It is said in the book that on the night of Halloween, everyone wore all kinds of costumes of ghosts, wore blue faced and fanged masks of terror, and carried a pumpkin lantern carved with a mask of ghosts. The pumpkin lantern was used to guide ghosts. So I got all kinds of materials and started to prepare for the festival.
Its OK to say something about clothes. The most difficult thing for me is to make pumpkin lanterns. I asked my mother to find a small pumpkin for me. First, cut off the top of the pumpkin with a knife, then put a spoon into the pumpkin to empty the flesh and seeds, and then carefully scrape the wall of the pumpkin thin. Then, I used a pencil to draw a mask on the paper, pasted it on the pumpkin surface at the pre selected position, and then used thumbnails to draw the outline of the mask on the pumpkin skin. Then I tore off the paper, hollowed it out with a small awl bit by bit, and finally put on the rope. After my meticulous production, a unique pumpkin lantern is ready. I put on my homemade "Crow Man" costume, put on my pumpkin lamp, and looked left and right in front of the mirror.
On the evening of the 31st, our family went to battle in full armor. My father dressed as a zombie, my mother dressed as a vampire bat, and even my grandfather put a big black garbage bag on his body to make a cloak. Needless to say, my costume is the most eye-catching one. After dressing up, they played with me for a while. They said they would not continue to play with me. I felt very unhappy and went to visit my cousins house next door with the pumpkin lantern. It was my cousin who came to open the door. He shouted, "Ghost!" He rushed into the living room. I couldnt help laughing. I quickly took off my mask to reveal "the true face of Lushan Mountain" and said to him: "Brother, you are too old-fashioned. Today is Halloween!" He looked around me carefully, felt my clothes, pinched my face, and finally laughed. He put on my clothes and looked in the mirror cheerfully. Im so proud, let alone!
萬(wàn)圣節(jié)英語(yǔ)作文 19
My favorite Halloween is coming soon. Little Star English Class organized a "Halloween trick" activity in advance.
On Saturday afternoon, the students put on ghost clothes and came to Little Star English Class. In the spacious classroom, there are ten big tables and ten spots, each with a theme, allowing children of different ages to choose freely to participate in their favorite activities. I chose to draw a mask. The teacher gave me a white mask. I used green, red and black to draw a zombie face: red eyes, green eyebrows, black bridge of the nose, and pale face, ready to use at night. Then I went to other places to watch: clay sculptures, kites and Halloween pumpkins, all of which are so attractive. I was very excited to see those scary ghost face decorations and charming ghost clothes. I think the troublemaker activity is so interesting to organize. I can definitely scare people at night!
After dinner, I came to Little Star English Class again and found all kinds of decorations adorning Little Star English Class: pumpkins on the ground, houses made of cardboard pasted on the door, and scary patterns hanging on the door. At this time, I saw a broken artificial hand on the table, bloody. Suddenly, I had an idea. I took the "blood hand" and patted a child on the shoulder. When the childs head turned half way around, he suddenly saw the "blood hand". He stared, turned around quickly, ran away, cried loudly, and everyone around laughed.
There are many activities here, such as painting masks, putting on ghost dolls, throwing arrows, and being a ghost pumpkin... I cant help feeling excited. I really want to play with them all at once. Later, I set up a ghost doll. Each person in the queue can get five laps, so I only have five chances. For the first circle, I decided to set it closer and throw it forward gently. Unexpectedly, I found a ghost doll in the circle. I was very happy. I think that the first lap was so good, and the remaining four could be hit again. But the pie wont fall out of the sky. As a result, I didnt get the rest of the four laps, which made me feel bad. Next, I went to play other activities again.
I looked at my watch. It was more than eight oclock in the evening, but I didnt have enough fun. At this time, I thought I could knock on the door to beg for candy and scare Xie Li, my former classmate in kindergarten. So several of our companions came to Xie Lis house. The light at the door was dim, and I rang the doorbell. Unexpectedly, the person who opened the door was Xie Lis mother. As soon as the door opened, my aunt was surprised to see our horrible dress, and immediately I extended a bloody prosthetic hand. Auntie was frightened. She opened her eyes wide in fear, and cried out, "What do you want to do?"
"Sugar!" I pretended to be ferocious and replied fiercely.
She may have been frightened, "Pa!" The ground shut the door and fled home.
As a result, we didnt get any candy, but we got a good laugh from everyone. I didnt expect that she would be so scared. Its so funny to play tricks on people. Happy time is always short. In the twinkling of an eye, its 8:30 p.m., and I still havent finished.
I love you on Halloween. Welcome next time.

When we think of halloween, we think of "trick or treat", pumpkins, jack o lanterns, vampires and haunted houses.
But do you know the origin of halloween? why does it fall on 31 october? what kind of festival is it? why is it so creepy?
Halloween dates back to a celtic festival called samhain. november 1 is the new year of the celts, who lived in europe more than a thousand years ago. this is the day which marked the end of summer and harvest.
The celts believed that on the night of october 31, ghosts of the dead would return to earth. the celts celebrated samhain by dressing up in costumes with animal heads and having bonfires.
Many celts settled in britain and ireland, where the festival became popular. those who moved to america took the tradition with them.
Nowadays, most people celebrate halloween but only for fun. they are not worried about ghosts.
Kids in america will dress up as devils or angels and will go from house to house calling "trick or treat", playing mischievous tricks and getting sweets.
Americans spend more money on halloween than christmas! in xx, more than hk$45 billion was spent on halloween. and hk$15 billion of that was spent on candy alone!!!
Kids in britain also dress up at halloween. they visit houses, sing songs or tell a joke to get sweets. many go to halloween parties and play games like "ducking for apples". you must pick up an apple in water but you can only use your mouth. try it!
萬(wàn)圣節(jié)英語(yǔ)作文 21
On October 31st, dozens of children dressed in costumes knock on their neighbors’ doors and yell "Trick or Treat" when the door opens. Pirates and princesses, ghosts and popular heroes of the day all hold bags open to catch the candy or other goodies that the neighbors drop in. As they give each child a treat the neighbors exclaim over the costumes and try to guess who is under the masks.
Since the 800’s November 1st is a religious holiday known as All Saints’ Day. The Mass that was said on this day was called Allhallowmas. The evening before became known as All Hakkiw e’en, or Halloween. Like some other American celebrations, its origins lie in both pre-Christian and Christian customs.
October 31 st was the eve of the Celtic new year. The Celts were the ancestors of the present-day Irish, Welsh and Scottish people. On this day ghosts walked and mingled with the living, or so the Celts thought. The townspeople baked food all that day and when night fell they dressed up and tried to resemble the souls of the dead. Hoping that the ghosts would leave peacefully before midnight of the new year.
Much later, when Christianity spread throughout Ireland and October 31 was no longer the last day of the year, Halloween became a celebration mostly for children. "Ghosts" went from door to door asking for treats, or else a trick would be played on the owners of the house. When millions of Irish people immigrated to the United States in the 1840s the tradition came with them.
Today’ school dances and neighborhood parties called "block parties" are popular among young and old alike. More and more adults celebrate Halloween. They dress up like historical or political figures and go to mmasquerade parties. In larger cities, costumed children and their parents gather at shopping malls early in the evening. Stores and businesses give parties with games and treats for the children.
Teenagers enjoy costume dances at their schools and the more outrageous the costume the better!
Certain pranks such as soaping car windows and tipping over garbage cans are expected. But partying and pranks are not the only things that Halloweeners enjoy doing. Some collect money to buy food and medicine for needy children around the world.

The irish name for these lanterns was "jack with the lantern" or "jack of the lantern," abbreviated as " jack-o-lantern" and now spelled "jack-o-lantern."
