奧運火炬英語作文 1
Olympic Flame
Now the 26th Centennial World Olympic Games are in full swing in Altanda. The Olympic flame is burning red and bright in the torch at the center of the Olympic square. Earlier before the official opening of the games it had been relayed one by one through the hands of runners, among them, students supported by the Chinese hope project. Thousands of people lined the struts to watch the relay.
The relay of the Olympic Flame is the symbol of the continuity between the ancient and modern Games. During the ancient Olympics a sacred flame burned at the altar of Zeus. A modern version of the flame was adopted for the Berlin Games in 1936, and the tradition has been observed ever since. The torch used to kindle the flame is first lit by the suns rays at Olympia in Greece, and then carried to the site of the Games by relays of runners. Ships and planes are used when necessary.
The runners are specially chosen, All of them are hard working and as a result become overacbievers. The flame kindles the fire in everyones heart to encourage people to go on and on and bring the Olympic spirit into full play.
奧運火炬英語作文 2
It is known to all that the 2008 Olympic Games will be held in Beijing. In order to make it a successful event,we will improve the environment of Beijing and build more venues. At the same time,it is necessary for us to improve the quality and culture of the citizens as manners play an important role in international communication. I notice that sometimes some young people dont behave properly in our daily lives. For example, spitting in public places can be seen somewhere. The lawns are entered in the park although it is not right to do so.The flowers in public garden are picked. What is worse, rubbish and plastic bags are thrown on the ground in the street.
In my opinion, these bad behaviors will make bad impressions upon visitors to China. So every one of us should form good habits from now on.

The closing ceremony must take place in the stadium after the end of all the events. The flag bearers of the participating delegations and the name-board-bearers enter the stadium in single file. Behind them march the athletes, without distinction of nationality.
The flag bearers then form a semi-circle behind the rostrum.
The President of the IOC and the President of the OCOG mount the rostrum. To the sounds of the Greek national anthem, the Greek flag is hoisted on the flagpole that stands to the right of the central flagpole used for the winners flags. The flag of the host country is then hoisted on the central flagpole, while its anthem is played. Finally, the flag of the host country of the next Olympic Games is hoisted on the lefthand flagpole to the strains of its anthem.
The mayor of the host city joins the President of the IOC on the rostrum and returns to him the Olympic flag. The president of the IOC then entrusts it to the mayor of the host city of the following Olympic Games. This flag must be displayed in the latter citys main municipal building.
After an address by the President of the OCOG, the President of the IOC gives the closing speech of the Olympic Games, which he ends with these words:
"I declare the Games of the ... Olympiad closed and, in accordance with tradition, I call upon the youth of the world to assemble four years from now at ... to celebrate with us there the Games of the ... Olympiad".
A fanfare then sounds; the Olympic flame is extinguished, and while the Olympic anthem is being played, the Olympic flag is slowly lowered from the flagpole and, unfurled horizontally, carried out of the arena, followed by the flag bearers. A farewell song resounds.

Bidding for and hosting th Olympics succssfully is, prhaps, th ultimat glory for a city. Howvr, bfor transforming th dram into rality, th bnfits and drawbacks of bidding for th Olympics should b wighd carfully.
Hosting th Olympics surly would bring about much gain to a city. Boom of th local conomy, mor jobs, and th possibility of gnrating incom all sound xtrmly attractiv to th municipal govrnmnt. At th sam tim, bttr infrastructur, clanr nvironmnt, njoying th spctacular gam with hundrds of sports lits and ntrtainmnt stars, and th opportunity of contacting popl from all ovr th world also sm xciting to th citizns. Bsids, th bidding will dfinitly promot th patriotic motion and prid, as wll as th moral bhavior in local popl. In most cass, bidding for th Olympics is wll supportd by both th public and th cntral govrnmnt.
Unfortunatly, this is not th ntir viw of th prtty pictur. If looking from anothr angl, th Olympic bid might bring about som sid-ffcts to a city.
First of all, th nvironmntal impacts, including th incrasing xhaust fums of cars, mor prssur on watr rsourcs, hug amount of wastd laflts and othr matrials usd for public activitis, ar most probably nglctd. In ordr to broadn th strts, som trs may hav to b cut. Nar th construction sit, th tiny dust may lingr in th air for a long tim. Rduction of farmland may b causd by th nd of stting up nw sports cntr or accommodation facilitis. Ths nvironmntal consquncs can b spcially srious in a rsourc-limitd and dnsly-populatd city in a third-world country.
Bsids, if talking about th conomic bnfit, it should not b forgottn that a quick boosting may lad to bubbl growth, which may asily crash. If not wll managd and organizd, th big vnt may not b so profitabl, and th nw facilitis may b forvr mpty aftr th gams. Ys, thr hav bn cass that host citis ndd up with normous dbts.
Finally, lt’s think about th low-incom groups in th city. What will thy gt from th Olympics bidding? Mor tax, mor fs, mor xpnsiv proprty prics, and highr cost of living. Ths dfinitly ar not good nws for thm.
To bid or not to, this is a qustion. It is up to th choic of th municipal govrnmnt, and th local public. Aftr th dcision, what thy can do is to mak th most of th bnfit, and rduc th drawbacks to th last.

today the way we consider human psychology and mental development is heavily determined by the genetic sciences. we now understand the importance of inherited characteristics more than ever before. yet we are still unable to decide whether an individuals personality and development are more influenced by genetic factors (nature) or by the environment (nurture).
research, relating to identical twins, has highlighted how significant inherited characteristics can be for an individuals life. but whether these characteristics are able to develop within the personality of an individual surely depends on whether the circumstances allow such a development. it seems that the eperiences we have in life are so unpredictable and so powerful, that they can boost or over-ride other influences, and there seems to be plenty of research findings to confirm this.
my own view is that there is no one major influence in a persons life. instead, the traits we inherit from our parents and the situation and eperiences that we encounter in life are constantly interacting. it is the interaction of the two that shapes a persons personality and dictates how that personality develops. if this were not true, we would be able to predict the behavior and character of a person from the moment they were born. in conclusion, i do not think that either nature or nurture is the major influence on a person, but that both have powerful effects.

奧運火炬英語作文 11
the Olympics was onece so far away from my life ,that as a senior one student here in China, I've never been involved with anything about Olympics. But next time, things will be different.
the 2010 Olympics will be held in Beijing. Though it's still a few year from now, I still feel the enthusiasm of our Chinese people. Last time I wandered in the streets and saw a crowd of people buying something in big amounts. I was so curious that I went up and had a closer look. they were fighting to buy the new mascots for the 2010 Olmpics. the mascots were made in different sizes and styles, but they all come from the original features of "Fuwa"(the lucky kids). From then on , I realised how close the international and historical game is to me!
As a high school student, I'd be a freshman in college during the Olympics in Beijing. How I wish I could be a volunteer, and really devote myself into it!
Time flies, and two years is just a blink of an eye. Tomorrow, I'll be a pround Chinese, who is able to be proud of his own to have a memory of the glorious game.

The Chinese sport shooter I like best is Wang Yifu who was in terms of Olympic medals one of the most successful sport shooters of all times. He specializes in the 50 m Pistol and 10 m Air Pistol events.
Wang won his first Olympic medal in the Los Angeles games at the age of 23. After this, the Air Pistol event was added to the program, and this is where he has achieved his greatest acplishments. He won the 1992 gold medal only days after a new medal in the 50 m event. His three attempts to repeat the victory have provided impressive results and very tight duels:
In the 20xx petition, Wang scored 590 once more, but lost the Olympic record to Mikhail Nestruev (Russia) who achieved 591. However, Wang Yifu chased quickly and eventually won by a margin of 0.2 points to get his second Olympic gold.
I like Wang Yifu, and I also like his great sprite.

奧運火炬英語作文 15
The exciting moment, I am convinced, must remain vivid in our mind, when Beijing, the Capital of China, was proclaimed the final winner to host the Olympic Games in 2008 by Chairman of the International Olympic Committee. Time flies, and the new Olympics is coming very soon!
Olympic Games, held every four years, boast a long history and offer rare opportunities for different nations to get together, which are far more than sports contests participated by professional athletes. Through Olympics, new world records are set, resilient sportsmanship is highlighted, sport-related industries spring up and international goodwill and exchange get greatly enhanced.
As college students, we ought to contribute our share to the imminent Olympic Games with responsibility of citizenship as well as focused knowledge. For instance, it is advisable to give voluntary lectures to popularize Olympic knowledge and environmental awareness in some residential areas. And we are looking forward to your suggestions and participation!
