小說(shuō)寫(xiě)的很真實(shí)，無(wú)論是歷史，宗教，手工藝，還是人的感情。雖然有關(guān)很多歷史我都不太清楚，穆斯林的宗教文化我也不甚了解，但是看完這書(shū)，就是覺(jué)得，很多東西好像就那么真真切切的放在面前，大到一個(gè)葬禮，小到一塊玉。
作者在后序中說(shuō)，“我和主人公一起生活。每天從早到晚，又夜以繼日。我為他們的歡樂(lè)而歡樂(lè)，為他們的痛苦而痛苦。我已經(jīng)舍不得和我的人物分開(kāi)。當(dāng)我把他們一個(gè)一個(gè)地送離人間的時(shí)候，我被生死離別折磨得痛徹肺腑。”然而故事中的人，還是要離開(kāi)，一個(gè)又一個(gè)，排著隊(duì)似的，不緊不慢地離開(kāi)。悲劇故事都不可避免的如此。
印象最深的是，韓子奇身處英國(guó)倫敦時(shí)給家里寄去的那封信。說(shuō)是一封信，卻也只是簡(jiǎn)單的一句話——“我們還活著。你們還活著嗎?”還活著嗎……在那樣一個(gè)戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)動(dòng)亂年間，信竟然是這樣寫(xiě)的，如此的問(wèn)候，我心里一陣凄涼，一滴眼淚往下落。
在這本厚重的書(shū)里，可以看到兩代人的凄美愛(ài)情，看到愛(ài)情中的無(wú)奈和悲哀。有時(shí)候我們確實(shí)是愛(ài)著的，但也因?yàn)閻?ài)著，才會(huì)感到無(wú)奈，做出些傷到別人也傷到自己的事。
